VIEQUES VISITORS

RECOMMENDATION TO SAVE SOME $ ….
DO NOT BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS FROM THE STATES DIRECTLY
TO VIEQUES !! OR AT LEAST CHECK TO SEE WHAT IS CHEAPER!!!

This is often a HUGE expense and totally
Unnecessary  for the “convenience”??
WE RECOMMEND:
BOOK FLIGHTS INTO SAN JUAN AND EXPLORE
ALTERNATIVES FOR GETTING TO VIEQUES!!
…fly from various locations with various small
island carriers from the big isle, or use the ferry…one way or both ways.
ALSO—-This may not only save you many dollars, but
will better serve the local economy!
We have found that IF you put flight searches in using Vieques as
your final destination, you may pay unreasonable BIG BUCKS up to 2x what you
would pay booking directly to SJU and then with the smaller airlines, because
Cape Air(only one I am aware of now) is offering connections to Continental and
Jet Blue …& maybe others…and the BIG airlines(and cape air?) are making
big bucks in the name of convenience…?
SAVE $!!!… book into San Juan and we will guide
you in how to get here from San Juan International airport!!
Plenty of info on line

However you choose to get from the main island of Puerto Rico to Vieques, it is a trip filled with breathtaking beauty!!  The view from a tiny plane looking over our tiny island is simply amazing.  The ferry gives you the ocean in all its glory and, if you can time it right, you may get to witness an unbelievably picturesque sunset from the water.

The most convenient way to get from Puerto Rico to Vieques is a 20 minute “hop” by small plane from San Juan International Airport (SJU).  See below for links to island airlines.

You can also take a 10 minute taxi from San Juan International to Isla Grande Airport (SIG) for approximately $20.  The flight from Isla Grande Airport to Vieques is approximately $85 per person one way.

Another option is to take an approximately hour and a half taxi ride to the NEW ferry dock IN CEIBA for around $50-80, depending on how many people and how many bags, and then a 1/2 hour (or so) trip on the passenger ferry to Vieques for $2 per person. WE ARE TOLD THE SHORTER ROUTE ENDING AT MOSQUITO PIER IN VQS IS TO OPEN SOON…not holding my breath…

Bringing a rental car on the cargo ferry is not allowed….besides being basically impossible 🙂

OR hop a taxi to Ceiba’s Jose Aponte de la Torre Airport (RTR) in Ceiba and take Vieques Air Link or Flemenco Air(??), approximately $45 one way.

All prices are approximate as of the date of posting and are subject to change without notice.

SEE THIS BEFORE BOOKING FROM THE STATES TO PUERTO RICO!

THIS IS WHO WE RECOMMEND:

For groups of up to 9, charter a private flight on our preferred carrier…
